Chinese Economists 50 Forum ("50 Forum") is the brainchild of the top 50 economists of China who by gathering a most versatile pool of outstanding scholars, policy-makers, business leaders and public figures created an open-communication podium to present and defend various views on timely and important economic topics and policies. For six years after its inception, 50 Forum has been a leader in support of a more integrated and liberalized economy and reform efforts throughout China. Forum programs assist Chinese scholars, entrepreneurs and public policy planners to advance the "invisible hand of market", the rule of law, enforce "market-oriented" education and strengthen competition systems and processes through publications, public symposiums and televised forums to high-ranking officials, non-governmental organizations and civil society groups.

The list of 50 Forum members boast of topnotch economists such as Minister He Liu ( Director General of Leading Group of Economics and Finance Office of CCP, chaired by Chinese President), Minister Xiwen Chen (Director-General  of Office of Agriculture Leading Group of CCP, chaired by Chinese Premier), Jinglian Wu (Chief Economist, State Council Development Research Centre), Gang Fan (famous Economist, Director of the National Economy Research Institute of the China Economic Reform Research Foundation), Justin Yifu Lin (former adviser to the World Bank, Director of China Center of Economic Research, Peking University), Jiange Li (Vice Minister, State Council Office for Restructuring Economic System), Xiaochuan Zhou (Governor of the People's Bank of China), and Weiying Zhang (Vice-Dean, Guanghua School of Management, Peking University).

50 Forum key programs of "Chang-An Forum", "China Economic Policy Symposium" and "China Economic Problem Seminar" emphasize the linkage between the political, economic and social dimensions of reform processes, the recognizes the reforming economic systems, theory explanation procedures, and the administration of reforms requires a combination of leadership and incentives from within government, and pressure from groups outside of government. Programs aim to build the capacity of key government institutions and non-government organizations that are attempting to meet the fundamental challenge China faces in developing and integrating its economy with the world. The forum also encourages public information and advocacy to build constituencies for economic reforms. This approach has a pragmatic focus on making institutions work and emphasizes open collaboration among government agencies, the academic community, business and professional associations, and the general public.

Over the past few years, 50 Forum has developed innovative approach to economic theory development, moving beyond traditional economic assumptions about appropriate government decisions and current weaknesses of industrialization. Instead, 50 Forum is grounded in fundamental empirical questions about how economic reforms are actually being managed, market enforced and competitions dispensed, and what constituencies are likely to support more liberal and sustainable reforms.
