I have been very impressed with the people I work with in the aviation industry. They consistently demonstrate very positive attitude towards their daily work and work together to resolve problems or issues.
lifeofguangzhou.com: Are there any touching stories happened during your working time in Guangzhou?
During the recent bad weather in China, a huge demand was placed on the airlines to provide air transportation for stranded passengers traveling home for the Chinese Spring festival. The airline personnel worked long days and nights without complaints, in difficult weather conditions, to support this requirement and provide safe and efficient transportation for thousands of people so they can be home with their families during this special time of year.
lifeofguangzhou.com: As a foreign expert in Guangzhou, do you think what the biggest achievement you have got? What made you feel proudest?
Being nominated by the China Southern management and receiving this award is very important and a proud moment for me.
lifeofguangzhou.com: Are there any difficulties when working with your Chinese staff? How did you deal with it? For example, some culture difference.
Not really, I am very lucky to have a great team to work with as they have been working for our company for several years and have a very good understanding of the work environment, customer's needs, and how to address cultural differences.
lifeofguangzhou.com: Why did you come to work in Guangzhou?
As a technical consultant for Boeing, I was offered an opportunity to come to Guangzhou and work with China Southern Airlines, the largest airline in China. To me, that was a rare opportunity so I accepted the assignment.
lifeofguangzhou.com: How long do you plan to work in Guangzhou?
I have been in Guangzhou for nearly five years and hopefully I can stay a few more years but that all depends on my company and their future requirements. I really enjoy living and working in Guangzhou and consider it as home.
lifeofguangzhou.com: What's your suggestion to Guangzhou city?
During my time here I have seen the city of Guangzhou transform very quickly into a major cosmopolitan city with many construction projects underway and new high rise buildings going up everywhere. With all this change, I hope that Guangzhou can maintain its unique cultural heritage by balancing the new cosmopolitan look with the tradition Chinese architecture.
