Lyon, the capital of French Rhone-Alpes and the second largest city following Paris, is a chief industrial and commercial center in France.

Situated in southeast France, Lyon is run through by the Saône River and Rhone River, thus becoming the hub of land-and-water transportation, and main cross to Europe.

Lyon has a favorably mild climate and plentiful rainfall for all year round. Its annual average temperature is 11.3℃ with shining hours up to 2010.

Lyon is constituted by nine districts and occupied by 422.500 people in the area of 45.75 square km.

Lyon makes a name for itself in textile industry, machinery manufacturing, electronics industry, chemistries and pharmaceutical industries and also heavy vehicle industries. Plus, Lyon is a well-known financial center in Europe since long time ago. In tourism, Lyon boosts an abandon resource of attractions; it is also called "the capital of cuisines".

In 1988, Lyon set up the friendly relationship with Guangzhou city.
