Atelier Goldstein in Frankfurt on the Main (Germany) is an internationally operating studio for artists with special needs. Its works, which have been presented in numerous exhibitions, have been testimonials to a way of working that can best be described with the concept of "art in the social context".
As ambassadors of the City of Frankfurt on the Main, seven artists from the Atelier will exhibit their works at the Guangdong Museum of Art, from April 8 - 20, 2008. This exhibition is a part of the program "Frankfurt at the Pearl River", which celebrates the 20 year existence of the city twinning between Guangzhou and Frankfurt.
Extremely individual statements will be shown from the fields of sculpture, painting, drawing and graphics. They will provide a vivid overview of the wide spectrum of artistic creation and of the high quality of the works from Atelier Goldstein.
The exhibition will be opened by Dr. Petra Roth, the Lady Mayor of the City of Frankfurt.
In addition, in the same exhibition, the results of the cooperation between Atelier Goldstein and mentally disabled artists from Guangzhou will be shown. These works will be created during a workshop which will be held within the facilities of the museum from March 30 to April 7. Three artists from Atelier Goldstein will thereby work artistically with their hosts from the People's Republic of China. The workshop will be facilitated by the Goldstein employees Elizabeth Coleman-Link and Melanie Schmitt.
