Rental Bicycle

Rental bikes in Tianhe. Most European cities now have them. The idea works like this: you go to a machine that takes your money and grants you access to a bicycle. You then can ride it around for one day or so and return the bicycle at any other bicycle machine throughout the city. It’s a modern idea that I feel will take a lot customization to fit China’s social climate. And this photo shows that quite well with the new city’s West Tower looming in the background over this row of bicycles meant to help “civilize” Guangzhou. But there’s an old man, representing Guangzhou’s past, looking on suspiciously.
